Objects of Focusing the Mind

MINDFULNESS TECHNIQUE 


 

This text is a continuation of the text on detaching mind. Focusing mind is practiced by concentrating on one object or thing. Everyone can choose his mindfulness technique. The objects can be interior or exterior.

It can be a candle flame, a star, the moon, one’s own breath, a mantra or spiritual words, an image, the eyes of another living being.

Even your own eyes can be the subject of conscious attention and focus of mind.

One can stand in front of a mirror and look deeply into one’s eyes, though many may find it difficult to do. Many people may have fear because the mirror is not always what it looks like. Not even a mirror is a single flat surface. Just like a human it is made of many holes and particles. The average mind fears of the unknown.

 

One can use writing as mindfulness technique. Maybe every new page we write brings us sometimes some extra pounds to our skeleton (ask writers what they think about it), but writing deepens our mind and concentration. Of course, I think of writing here as an object of concentration and mindfulness like creative writing that transforms our own mind and inspires someone else’s to the greatest depths of our souls.

Reading too can be a deepening of concentration and a mindfulness technique . However, do not forget to get up from time to time and look into the distance or the green.

 

Any method that brings us to a state of understanding, whether it is understanding feelings, thoughts, breath, memories, ideas, experiences, man, past, present, future, meaning of life, meaning of human existence, visions, symbols, dreams, sources … is good a technique for practicing mindfulness.

Artists, Again


 

The state of complete focus is well known to one artist.

The painter would sit for hours in front of his white canvas completely absorbed in the emptiness of the whiteness.

From that emptiness, which is essentially the complete concentration, drop lines one after the other. After a usually short time, the canvas will be filled with colorful, fully realized observations, feelings, thoughts, ideas, inner world experiences or a powerful message.

 

It is a wonderful feeling. It is self expression in its purest creation. While he creates the artist’s thought is firm and confidential.

 

And when the writer’s pages or dancer’s movements are performed with confidence and firmness, the whiteness that stands in front of the creation is fulfilled in a very short time.

Mindfulness is Like Complete Yoga a Way of Life Rather Than a Dry Mechanical Practice


 

It is the same with asana, pranayama, kundalini, kriya or tantra Yoga techniques. When they are performed properly such practice naturally becomes mindfulness.

 

It is always better to practice and to come to a higher experience and knowledge than to read or repeat these, for man as the most developed being on Earth, true tenderness.

Hence, collect and spread tenderness.
