IS THERE ANYTHING LIKE REAL AND FALSE MEDITATION

There is much controversy, criticism, doubt and debate about whether meditation is important at all and whether there is real and false meditation. It is always best to practice and prove it yourself. There is a lot of exaggeration everywhere. Yet, read more about when meditation is vain and when funny things happen in meditation, who is yet the right meditator, where to go and how to identify the right meditator, honest teacher and right path.

Neuroscience and Meditation

Man, at a young Stone Age, about five thousand years ago, used flint not only to light a fire but also to open skulls and explore how our nervous system works. A bit younger Indian sages did not know about our modern neuroscience either but they did not even need to write and think about what real and false meditation was.

Our body-mind-soul system is an extremely intelligent and complex system that, despite all the sciences, whether old or young, we actually still know very little. How meditation, or different meditation techniques affect our nervous system, is still not so important topic to the young, multi-layered neuroscience.

Scientists who have recently been involved in such testing agree that changes are occurring in the brain of a person who spends some time in meditation (one of the more recent studies of mindfulness often referred to as meditation in the West). And that change is not nothing but for human consciousness is something great.

The changes that take place in the brain happen in the electromagnetic structure of the brain.

When Meditation is Vain
Funny Things That Happen in Meditation

It is not uncommon for some people to notice that after meditation they feel even more upset than before meditation.

Many over time, again, become true masters of immersion of falling asleep in a sitting position. Some will even be so experienced in falling into the dream on a meditation pillow that they will fall on their backs confidently and continue to snore. This is, unlike psychological or physical confusion (which both psychology and neuroscience have confirmed) a very mild product of misconception and practice.

It may be that these people who have misunderstood meditation, through this understanding and practice yet have been able to solve some of their life problems or have reached higher levels of knowledge, but unfortunately, the chances of this truth are slim.

Even those who think they have experienced a very special or even supreme state of the state because they “fell apart into a thousand parts and then re-assembled” (which is not a mystical experience but a perfectly normal reaction of human consciousness that is calming down step by step) unfortunately are also far from the real truth.

If, in addition to this, people treat the complete Yoga, that ancient, noble and sophisticated, and the its noble practices and teachings in the same disrespectful way, then they have definitely failed in understanding the freedom of their consciousness, heart, spirit and soul.

What is Then Real Meditation and Who is the Right Meditator?

Please keep in mind that meditation can be fruitful and healthy only when one’s mind is steadfast in its honesty and in an open mind which means nothing but an open heart.

It is the same with practicing asanas, the yogic body postures. When asanas are not performed with a desire to compete, or even sadder to win, but dedicated to true values and truth, the result will be empowering both body and spirit. This practice leads to purification of both heart and spirit.

That person who is able to withdraw her or his senses and when he or she can completely make a difference between what is real and what is not, such person is very close to the meditative state of mind.

A man who knows how to focus consciousness and one who, after all, has a love for life itself, is on the best path of his human soul.

For these reasons, meditation is said to be the highest state in Yoga, Vedanta, Tantra (and forms of Tantra in Japan, China and Tibet), Buddhism, or any other system of thought.

Nothing is Impossible

Meditating requires good and solid preparation. Otherwise an unprepared person may be lost in his identity, pride, arrogance, expectations, values, higher value complexes (which are only soft blankets for a lower value complex), in meaning of life, in their complete being in space. In such a case, meditation instead of a relaxed mind and a calm heart will cause even greater confusion in all states of the human psyche.

Both the practice (or state) of complete concentration and deep meditation can awaken higher centers in the frequencies of the brain by altering electromagnetic waves. If there is no preparation for such a transformation, what may be brought into the brain by meditation, may be too much.

One should not mistreat himself at all costs but be honest and aware of his personal nature and his personal mentality. And also honestly do what works for him and discard what does not.

The path of self-realization in Yoga is called the path of discrimination (viveka).

That path can be taught by any book nor is there anyone who can teach another person about this path. One can only go through this path by honestly looking inwardly. Only by examining (vichara) and changing one’s own inner life with a strong willpower and certainly without any sense of guilt or exaggeration.

It is necessary to be grounded for this path, whether you are a priest, a materialist, an ideologue or a dreamer.

Nothing is impossible.

Where to Go?

When meditation is real and not false, which means when meditation is practiced in the right way, its fruits are transmitted to the whole character of man. A person can think or say that he or she is meditating but if there is no change in anything, then is a question what that all for. But when one really meditates, the whole character of man is changing. Such a transformation will inevitably be felt and seen by the environment, but certainly only the environment that already has an open heart enough to notice and receive the transformations of these people.

Sparkling eyes can’t lie. Neither can the heart. A soul can’t lie at all.

There is nothing wrong with educating, reading or listening about other people’s experiences.

But science is rigid, cold, inflexible and often very self-confident and with other people’s experiences, especially those who are very vocal in thinking that they have already discovered all the secrets of all universes, one should be at a good distance.

A good friend, who unfortunately or fortunately owns rare brain abilities, wrote a simple truth in his desperate fight for everything what is human:

“I don’t care what you were, I care what you became.”

How to Recognize the Right Meditator, Honest teacher, Right Path?

Normally, no sane person likes to be manipulated and guided by fraudsters. Unfortunately, such cases are not new, though the world today is really more confused than ever before. To save yourself in the search for the right teachers, for the beginning simply pay attention to a couple of big, but (at first glance) hidden, details:

– how a person lives

– what he or she allowed other persons to do to his or her body, spirit and soul, and what he or she still does

– what is he or she talking about

– how he or she acts today

– what his or her personal steps have brought him or her and whether he or she has learned new lessons of wisdom from his or her own pain

– where his and her gentleness and rudeness are today

And you will easily recognize a charlatan from a true sage, or teacher.

And in this way you will put in the right places the answers to what is right and what is false meditation.

It is the same with a teacher of Yoga, meditation, spirituality, or any science (or rather, truth) that teaches about the layers of the human body, spirit, mind, or soul.

There are countless offerings today. But that does not mean that it is impossible to meditate today and that anyone can meditate if he knows what he is doing and what he really wants.

It is only up to you to know whether there is such thing as real or false meditation and only by practicing.
